What makes a good story

What makes a story good, is a good idea and plot and setting and all the essentials of classic literature. I like when the characters have a connection with eachother and have known eachother. There has to be suspense and some sort of violence and/or argumentation. Everything connot be fluffy and nice through the whole story. This doesn't just go for novels, but any short story or fairy tale or any kind of story. A negative side (conflict) is needed in every story so the story can work around something and the characters can solve the problem and (usually) have a happy ending or at least pleasant ending.
Everything, like the setting for example, has to make sense to the idea of the story. If they are fighting violently, they shouldn't be in a meadow or some normal house. A battlefield would be more appropriate or dojo.
Another element that would make a story more intresting would be romance. nothing serious unless the genre is romance.
If you are telling a story verbally, body language is a big element. You would need to act with your hands and make gestures to make a scene because you need to set the tone to the listeners/viewers.
