WhT mAkEs A gOoD sToRy?!?!?!?

A good story is one that can grasp a readers attention right from the begginging. A good story also need to be able to hold the readers attention throughout the rest of the book. When the author adds literary elements such as climax, conflict, characterization, irony, and suspense. When a story uses charaterization and describes the characters with great detail it helps the reader to become closer within the story. It allows the reader to almost get inside the charters head to hear their inner thought and feelings. If a story has a good conflict, it usually makes for a great climax. The climax of a story is the most interesting event where all of the previous events have been leading up to. My favorite elements in a story are irony and suspense. Suspense grabs the reader and makes it so they don't want to put the book down because they want to keep reading. I believe that irony always adds a little extra kick to a story and can also make a reader laugh.

in the Twilight series, Stephanie Meyer uses most of these elements to keep the reader interested. i am not a great reader or even a person who likes to read, but when i read the Twilight Series i couldnt put the books down. The author kept the story line filled with suspense and i never knew what was going to happen next. she also had mulitple conflicts throughout each book, but each book was also filled with a major conflict as well.

What Makes A Good Story?

A good story captivates the reader; it pulls them in and makes them want to keep reading. For me a good story needs suspense and drama in order to hold my attention. It also helps when you can relate to the character, when you can feel like you know how or what they feel, this makes it easier to relate to their problems. I enjoy getting to know the characters and learning about their lives in order to grasp an understanding of each character and why they are the what they are.
The book usually grabs my attention when a major conflict breaks out for example when the main character is faced with a difficult decision. Another element that makes a book interesting is when the book makes you think, think beyond the text in order to see the real life lesson. I enjoy books like this and it lets me see the world through someone else’s eyes and see what they feel are important in their lives. In order to keep me hooked the author has to make the whole book equally interesting and try not to have slow parts because that is when I decide to put the book aside and not pick it up again for a month or two.
I think that suspense and a good plot make a good story. Over the summer I read a book called The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks. This book made me want to keep reading because of all the different characters and setting in the story. The part that made me the most interested was when the main character found out that the guy she was dating was stalking her. After that part I was completely hooked, I couldn’t put the book down.
When I read a book and there is no suspense or depth to the book, I don’t want to read it anymore because there is nothing to it. If I am reading something and it doesn’t make me really think about or even get interesting in what it’s about than I find no point in continuing to read that.
I like when books make you think something will happen but then throws a curve ball and makes you think the opposite. One thing I can’t stand is if the book is really good but has an ending that makes you want the author to make a sequel to it.

What I think makes a good story

What makes a good story is a good connection to a character, like how in the beginning of most movies you can see the character in their daily life. For example if the character is a man over 30 it might show him getting up early, taking a shower, making coffee, shaving, and things he does before he goes to work. That is when you can make connections and understand more about their life. If the main character is a slacker, it would probably show him sleeping in, not bothering with cleanliness, and that’s when you get an idea of what kind of person he’s going to be. Also what makes a good story is a comedic character. Whether it’s the main character or not, I think there needs to be someone who is entertaining, either by being witty or funny or naïve, it just makes the story more enjoyable.
Unexpected turns and surprises make a story interesting, if I always knew what was going to happen next I probably wouldn’t keep reading on because there would be nothing left to find out. Suspense is good too because it can help you make connections with the book or movie by thinking “What would I do in that situation?” and also it’s entertaining.

WhAt MaKeS a GoOd StOrY?

A story is good if it has a good interesting beginning that is full of details, and that grabs the reader’s attention. Throughout the story it is important that the author uses literary techniques such as characterization, and climax. Characterization is good, because it helps you get a sense of the characters looks, feelings and emotions, and the way they portray themselves as. Climax is great because the climax is where the story reaches its highest peek of interest or excitement, and the reader is pulled in. The story also has to have a good conclusion that makes sense, and that wraps up the whole story all together. People enjoy reading story’s when the story has a lot of details and character to it.
I know that some people don’t like reading, and I’m one of those people, but if you get a good story with all of those things in it that I mentioned at the beginning of this paragraph, you might just end up liking some books. I don’t like reading at all, to be quite honest I find reading to be quite torturous. But there have been a few books that I actually enjoyed very much.

For example, I really enjoyed reading Twilight. I thought it was a very well put together book. Twilight had some suspense to it, and I loved that, because I love suspenseful books. Also Twilight had a wide variety of characterization, and climax.
Whenever I read Twilight, I never wanted to put it down, it grabbed my attention.

So reading can be fun, as long as you have the right book :-)

what makes a good story is when it grabs your attention and has a good first 3 pages that grabs you!!!there are many things that can get out of reading a book and thats is the important thing for me and thats what i like reading books. there are many things that attract me to video games because they are just so addicting that i can't put down the controller even when i want to it is so hard to say im done playing..... there are also some movies that i could watch over and over again like bad boys 2........
what makes a good story suspense and when a story doesnt completely suck. i dont like crappy romance stories. a good story is made up of alot of detail and descriptions. you have to get into the story and really understand what is going on. i like fast moving books that cut right to the chase and dont feed around the bush and take mad long to get into what is going on. like you read the book for like 2 hours and nothing happens and then towards the end, the main character gets stabbed. those kind of stories are mad stupid. sooo...ya

What makes a good story

What makes a story good, is a good idea and plot and setting and all the essentials of classic literature. I like when the characters have a connection with eachother and have known eachother. There has to be suspense and some sort of violence and/or argumentation. Everything connot be fluffy and nice through the whole story. This doesn't just go for novels, but any short story or fairy tale or any kind of story. A negative side (conflict) is needed in every story so the story can work around something and the characters can solve the problem and (usually) have a happy ending or at least pleasant ending.
Everything, like the setting for example, has to make sense to the idea of the story. If they are fighting violently, they shouldn't be in a meadow or some normal house. A battlefield would be more appropriate or dojo.
Another element that would make a story more intresting would be romance. nothing serious unless the genre is romance.
If you are telling a story verbally, body language is a big element. You would need to act with your hands and make gestures to make a scene because you need to set the tone to the listeners/viewers.

What Makes a good story?

I would say being able to relate to the story and the people in it makes the story a good story. Its good because then through out the movie you can compare what is happening and how they handle to what you did to handle the situation. Watching a movie like that or reading a book that you relate to makes you think. having characters that you relate to or remind you of someone it makes you understand the book/movie a lot better.
Also a good story has the right amount of suspense and information. Like it has the perfect balance to keep you interested and wanting to know what is going to happen next.

what makes it a good story?

There are many things that make up a good story. In order for it to be a good story, you would have to relate to it in some way. That way, the story becomes more interesting for you and you can understand it better. Also, the story would have to be told from a point of view or in a way that you can understand. I mean if everyone is talking in a southern accent or using huge words that you cant undertsand, then the story will seem confusing and maybe boring. Another thing that is imprtant to have in a good story is detail. Details are very important becuase they help you visualize the scenes in your mind's eye. So, if you can picture the scenes or events of the story then you can understand it and relate to it better.
