social issues - earthquake in haiti

I realize how devistating and upsetting the earthquake in Haiti is, however it is just another natural disaster that happened in the world. I dont feel its anyones responsibilty personally, not unless they make it their responsibilty to help them out. I would like to take on that responsibilty, and help them in some way. whether thats raising money, collecting food, collecting other supplies, clothes or whatever needs to be done. The best way to approach this would be to do something through the school. There are many kids here that are willing to help.
I do feel like the quote is true. i feel this way because, i think it sends the message that we should take action. But not because its our job to do it, but because we cant just walk away and not do something. I think people are more willing to help out and do something when they aren't obligated to do so. If they choose to help, they feel more accomplished and not like they just completed a job assignment.
