Hello scholars!
Today's blogging question is what makes a good story...? Think of any book, movie, video game, graphic novel, short story, friend's/grandpa's/etc. retelling. What is it that makes you want to keep reading, watching, listening? What parts make you stay up past your endurance (sleep) to continue?
Remember to write this in paragraph format. Give yourself time and energy (perhaps copy and paste it from a word document so there is an additional copy that goes through spell check). And remember..other people will read this. Make yourself proud to be published.
Enjoy.

What Makes It A Good Story?
ReplyDeleteWhat makes something a good story for me is that the author puts literary devices in it. They have to have irony in it or suspense. I mainly like suspense because a lot of the time someone dies in the book and when someone dies something good follows like someone avenges their death, or the person comes back to life and stories with ghosts in it are usually interesting to me.
My favorite kind of books is horror because I believe they have a lot of suspense in them
And I really like horror. I like horror movies a lot more then reading them but some of the books are not movies and reading them sometimes catches my interest and makes me want to keep reading it. So what makes it a good story for me is that it is a story with suspense or irony.

What makes a good story:
ReplyDeleteFor me, a good story is something that I can picture clearly in my head, and is overall realistic. When the author incorprates many things that I can relate to, it helps out the story a lot. For me, stories are harder to keep reading without clear detail and a character without an interesting personality.
A good story also can't be very predictable. It always needs to keep the reader wondering what is going to happen. A good story always needs to have a good pace. Like, there needs to be something major happening, but it can't happen all the time. Something I could always reread is anything in the twilight series. There's a lot of crazy stuff going on in it, but there's breaks where it's average and it gives you time to wonder. Even though its fiction, those very normal parts make the book more realistic. If there's too much action going on everywhere in the story, it seems fake.
